Do I need prior dance experience?

What does Ka Lā Hiki Ola mean?



Our name translates to “The day of new life and hope.” It reflects renewal, growth, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Every step, chant, and gesture we teach is guided by this meaning — a journey of healing and transformation through hula.

Can I book Ka Lā Hiki Ola for private events?



Yes! We perform for private parties, weddings, community events, and corporate gatherings. Each performance is designed to be authentic, educational, and filled with the spirit of aloha, making your event unforgettable.

What styles of hula do you teach?



We specialize in both hula kahiko (ancient hula) and hula ʻauana (modern hula). Hula kahiko is deeply traditional, accompanied by chant and percussion, while hula ʻauana is often performed to contemporary Hawaiian music with graceful movements. Both honor Hawaiian culture and storytelling.

What should I wear for class?



Comfortable clothing that allows free movement is best. Many students choose a paʻu skirt for practice, but it’s not required for beginners. Most importantly, bring an open heart and willingness to learn.



What is the meaning behind your logo?

Our logo is filled with cultural symbols that represent our values: the koru (new life), infinity sign (unity), niho mano/shark teeth (protection), spearhead (leadership), chasing birds (hope), plumeria flowers (family and love), and ocean waves (the flow of life). Together, they embody strength, connection, and aloha.
